Engine Bay Hoses

Stainless braided engine bay hoses in the Porsche 968.Here are the hoses that I replaced in the engine bay with Goodridge hoses and fittings.

I have been asked a few times as a Goodridge dealer and also as a 968 owner can I put together a kit for the replacements.

I did the replacements as part of the refurbishment that I did on my 968 in 2006/2007.

Because Porsche have some bespoke or at least rare parts in the systems, it was sometimes difficult to get the parts, one part I waited for 3 months before I received it.

Anyway I've gathered the information together and created this page, hopefully it will help you decide whether you want to do the alterations. The prices are true as of the 2009 price list.


Fuel Hoses

Porsche 968 stainless braided fuel hoses.The engine end of the hoses are aluminium fittings of the correct thread and are a very tight fit on the braided fuel hose.

The technique for fitting is to slide the collar on the braided hose first then push the fitting into the hose, it was extremely tight as I wanted to be sure it wouldn't leak. I did use some engine oil to ease it on, trying not to get any actually in the inside of the hose.

The chassis end of the fuel hoses will need to be re-used as these are extremely difficult to get hold of. I very carefully cut the old hose off the fittings, then after having them replated, I took mine to a local hydraulic specialist who was able to apply new clamping collars.

Clutch Reservoir Hose

Porsche 968 clutch reservoir hose.This is nice and simple a piece of hose of the required size and length and 2 hose finishers(red for my car but available also in silver or blue).

Clutch Control Hose

Porsche 968 clutch control hose.Braided stainless hose with a clear vinyl coating, the coating can be in various colours depending on the colour of your car.

There are 2 adapters required(seen here in blue) and also 2 aluminium washers. the adapters need to be shortened by a couple of millimetres on the parallel thread side so that they don't hit the bottom of the female thread in the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder. Just make sure that you clean up the fitting so that there is no metal particles left after cutting.

The aluminium washers need to be held central while tightening up the adapter into the clutch cylinders as the thread has an undercut at the shoulder.
